Solisana LLC (“Solisana,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Solisana iOS app and solisana.app. This policy explains how information is handled when you use our app or website.
Solisana is a wellness and lifestyle app. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Information We Process
Depending on the features you use, Solisana may process:
- Your onboarding and personalization choices, such as tanning goals, natural skin tone, sun reaction, skin-related survey answers, freckles or sun spots, gender, eye color, desired shade, sunscreen preferences, and notification preferences.
- Hydration entries, tanning-session activity, timer progress, reminders, saved places, premium status, and app preferences.
- Your location, when you allow access, to provide local weather, UV forecasts, burn-risk estimates, and personalized routines.
- Photos you deliberately select from your camera or photo library for profile, progress, sharing, or AI Skin Scan features.
- Limited technical and attribution information, such as app or device identifiers, approximate location derived from IP address, app installs and launches, referral source, device type, operating system, language, and timestamps.
- Subscription and entitlement information provided through Apple. Solisana does not receive your full payment-card information.
Optional feature
AI Skin Scan
The AI Skin Scan is optional. You may skip it and answer the questionnaire manually.
When you start a scan, your selected selfie is securely transmitted to OpenAI for cosmetic image analysis. The scan may estimate visible characteristics such as skin shade, undertone, tone evenness, apparent skin age, current tan level, cosmetic skin score, visible redness or “UV stress,” lighting quality, and confidence.
The scan is not facial recognition, does not identify you, and does not create a faceprint or biometric identification template. It does not diagnose health conditions or determine race, ethnicity, biological sex, medical conditions, or actual UV exposure. Your Fitzpatrick type comes from your answer about how your skin reacts to sunlight—not from your face.
Solisana does not retain the transmitted selfie on its servers. If a usable scan is completed, the photo and results may be saved locally on your device as a profile or progress photo.
OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models by default. API content may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring unless a longer period is legally required or necessary to prevent harm. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
Local Storage and Retention
Most profile information, survey answers, scan results, photos, hydration history, selected places, timer state, preferences, and reminders are stored locally using iOS app storage. Local information generally remains until you delete it through the app where controls are available or delete the app, subject to iCloud or device backups.
Solisana does not retain AI scan selfies on its servers. Our service providers may keep limited security, analytics, or attribution records. AI content may be retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and attribution records may be retained for up to 24 months. Other records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to operate and protect the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies.
Service Providers and Sharing
Solisana uses service providers to operate the app, securely process optional AI scans, prevent abuse, process subscriptions, provide weather and mapping features, deliver notifications, measure installs and referrals, and operate the website.
Solisana does not sell personal information, does not currently serve third-party advertising, and does not use AI scan photos or skin-analysis results for advertising. Scan photos and cosmetic results are not sent to our analytics provider.
Information may be processed by Apple, OpenAI, and service providers acting on our behalf only for the purposes described in this policy. These providers are required to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect safety or prevent fraud, as part of a business transfer, or when you deliberately share content.
Analytics and Website Information
We use analytics and attribution services to understand app installs, launches, referral sources, and marketing performance. These services may process limited device, app, network, and campaign information. Advertising identifiers are used only when available and permitted by iOS and applicable consent requirements.
Solisana.app may process standard website information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, approximate region, and timestamps for security, operation, and traffic measurement.
Your Choices
You may:
- Skip the AI Skin Scan and use the manual questionnaire.
- Deny or revoke Camera, Photos, Location, and Notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Remove profile and progress photos where the app provides controls.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account.
- Delete the app to remove locally stored data, subject to backups.
- Email team@solisana.app to request access to, correction of, or deletion of applicable server-side or attribution information.
Security and International Processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to certain processing, or obtain a copy of your information. Solisana will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. Requests may be sent to team@solisana.app.
Children’s Privacy
Solisana is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion.
Wellness Disclaimer
Solisana’s results, apparent skin age, burn-risk estimates, UV guidance, hydration guidance, and tanning routines are informational wellness estimates—not medical advice, diagnoses, guarantees, or substitutes for professional care. Follow sunscreen directions, use your own judgment, and consult a qualified medical professional about health concerns.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material updates will change the “Last Updated” date above and may receive additional notice where appropriate.
